Photographs of Campus Buildings for State Insurance Fund 1970-1979.

This series is comprised of photographs maintained in the Office of Treasurer and Controller at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. The Treasurer and Controller was responsible for insurance on buildings and contents at UAB. The Alabama State Insurance Fund required the University to maintain photographs of buildings insured through the fund. Insurance became the responsibility of the controller in 1969 or 1970 and remained in the Controller's Office until 1993 when it was assumed by the Office of Risk Management. Tom Thrasher, associate controller, maintained day-to-day responsibility for insurance at the time these photographs were taken. The photographs are all in black and white and document almost all buildings and structures owned or leased by UAB during the 1970s. Each photograph contains the name of the structure and its street address at the time.
